Socks stink… Let’s change them

This campaign calls for an urgent change in the law that sustains the clothing industry’s addiction to fossil fuel plastics.
Under current UK law large amounts of plastic used in socks and other garments are exempt from inclusion on fibre composition labelling.
We want the law to demand honest and clear labelling of all fossil fuel derived materials in clothing products.
The benefits of this are:
To make producers accountable for all the undeclared plastic used in clothing construction
To allow consumers to choose to reduce their plastic footprint
To drive the innovation needed to develop sustainable alternatives that will end the clothing industry’s addiction to plastic fibre.
To create a level playing field that can allow the development of renewable and bio alternatives.
Legislation is the only way to achieve the transformational change we need. By failing to act on textile plastics and its environmental damage our Government is in neglect of its duty to us and to future generations.
